Happy New Year and welcome to the new session! Last fall and holiday we had so much fun and really grew musically together. I’m so proud of all of the singers and thankful for our incredible community. Last night we had our first rehearsal of the winter session and I was so glad to see many familiar faces and some new faces as well. This session we will work on music about animals.
Debut will have several songs about places were animals can be found – the zoo, the farm, etc. they will work together to blend their voices, read basic rhythms and melodies, and have lots of fun.
Encore and Advanced Ensemble will have folk songs about animals in general. They will work in two- and three-part harmony as well as singing in rounds. Encore and Advanced Ensemble will be performing in April with the Magnolia Chorale. The repertoire for this concert will be lullabies, so the singers are working on those songs this session as well.
The session will go quickly and our performance on March 11 will be here before we know it! Singers: Please remember to practice daily. Standing tall in your choir stance, breathing deeply, practicing rhythms, solfege and words. Parents: It’s helpful to read through the music together with your singer. Debut students especially will benefit from repeating words after their parents.
We are already looking forward to the musicals we’ll perform in our spring session, which begins March 14! 2017 will be an exciting year, with the return of our fundraising benefit concert, “I <3 Endolyne,” and lots of music and friendship!
